Divergent Composition Workshop with loadbang and Neave Trio

The Longy School of Music's Divergent Studio offers a unique experience which enables participants to work closely with world-class faculty composers as well as collaborate with new music ensemble extraordinaire, loadbang, and the dynamic Neave Trio. This week-long chamber music intensive offers opportunities to have your music performed on Divergent concerts, network with other participants, and hear daily performances by Divergent students and faculty.

Program highlights:

  • Hear your music performed by members of loadbang and/or the Neave Trio<\li>
  • Coaching with Divergent faculty<\li>
  • Composition lessons/small group masterclasses with Divergent Composition faculty<\li>
  • Daily workshops covering both analytical and compositional topics<\li>
  • Program-wide seminars on topics including atonal and microtonal ear training, performing with electronics, complex rhythms, grant writing, and career development<\li>
  • Daily concerts featuring Divergent faculty<\li>

    Composers may submit up to two works for performance during the workshop. Pieces may not exceed four instruments drawn from any combination of the following: clarinet (doubling bass clarinet), trumpet, trombone, violin, cello, piano, and baritone.
