International Competition

The Cultural Association “Audire Musica delle Sfere” announces the “First International Contest for Musical Composition” for the year 2012, addressed to compositions of chamber music.
REGULATIONS
ART.1 -The contest is open to composers of any nationality without any age limits.
ART.2 – Compositions of between 5 and 15 minutes, written for ensemble with a minimum of 2 musicians to a maximum of 12 musicians, will be admitted. The compositions chosen may have already been peformed in public or have been published in the past, but they must not have been awarded prizes in other contests. Electronic or vocal compositions will not be accepted.
ART.3 – Each composer can participate with more than one piece by enrolling each composition separately (with the relative application fee for each piece) and by sending each composition in separate envelopes.
ART.4 - To enroll in the contest, each participant must send the following documents to the Contest Organisers: a) 2 (two) copies of the score, perfectly leggible and completely anonymous; the first page of each score must bear a pseudonym and the approximate length of the composition;
b) a self closing envelope indicating the same pseudonym used on the scores and containing: - the application form as shown at the bottom of this contest announcement, duly filled in and signed and indicating name and surname, date and place of birth, nationality, residency, telephone number, e-mail address, original title of the composition and the pseudonym used. The envelope should also contain a declaration that the composition has not received any previous awards and the authorisation for use of personal details; - a short curriculum vitae (in Italian, English or French); - photocopy of an identity document or passport; - receipt of payment of application fee (not refundable) of € 50,00 (fifty euros).

by and not after the 31/01/2012 (date of post office stamp will be considered valid). All charges are the responsability of the sender. Any material not received by the date of 15/02/2012 will not be taken into consideration. The Association will not be held responsible for any delays or mishaps in the delivery. Any scores which do not meet the above criteria will be excluded from the contest, without reimbursement of the application fee.
ART.5 - To participate in the contest, each participant must pay an application fee of € 50,00 (fifty euros). This payment must be made by bank transfer to the:

and specifying the reason for the transfer as “1° Concorso Composizione”. It is obligatory to indicate the name and surname of the contestant and to specify the reason for payment. Bank charges are the responsibility of the sender. The application fee will not be refundable, except in the case of cancellation of the contest due to unforeseeable causes.
ART.6 – The jury will meet to examine the compositions received and proclaim the winning compositions. The jury will not, however, be able to assign one or both prizes if the compositions received do not reach a sufficient mark. Prizes ex-aequo are not permitted. The judgement of the jury is final and cannot be appealed against.
ART.7 – The Prizes are as follows: First Prize : € 1300,00
Second Prize: € 700,00
ART.8 – The results will be published by 01/04/2012 on the Association's web site (www.musicadellesfere.it). The winners will be contacted by mail, e-mail or by phone directly. All winning composers will receive a certificate.
ART.9 – The contestants accept the present regulations in all parts, unconditionally and integrally. The contestants will not have any say in the use or articles, news bulletins, web information and other means used by the Association to promote the Contest. The scores sent for the contest cannot in any case be returned.
ART.10 – The Association reserves the right to change or modify the regulations at any time.
ART.11 – The Contest Announcement in Italian which can be consulted on the internet site www.musicadellesfere.it is to be considered the official text. The competent courts in case of controversy is the Court of Asti (AT).
