The Boston New Music Initiative announces a Call for Scores for works for chamber orchestra to be performed on its November concert. Works not selected for performance on the November concert program will be considered to be programmed at another date in the 2010-2011 concert season.

Recommended maximum instrumentation of flute (2, 1 doubling piccolo), oboe (2), clarinet (2), bassoon (2), French horn (2), trumpet (2), timpani, snare drum, piano, and strings. Works exceeding this instrumentation still will be considered, although preference will be given to scores closely adhering to this instrumentation. Subsets of this instrumentation, including standard chamber ensembles, and solo and duo works, are strongly encouraged. Electronic and electroacoustic works will not be considered for this particular Call for Scores.

Works can be of any duration, although preference will be given to works that are 15 minutes or less. There is no limit on number of works submitted, although each work should be submitted as a separate entry. Selected composers must be members of the Boston New Music Initiative or become members upon selection. Membership is free. Works involving text should be in the public domain, or composer should include evidence for permission of use.
