ST. MATTHEW'S MUSIC GUILD TO COMMISSION CHAMBER WORK FOR JUNE 2011 PERFORMANCE
St. Matthew's Music Guild is seeking submissions from composers who wish to be considered for a commission project jointly funded by the Music Guild and the Los Angles County Arts Commission. The work is to be an 8 - 12 minute composition for large chamber ensemble, no more than 15 players, exploring the intersection of Asian and Western musical traditions. The work may include up to one soloist (excluding keyboard instruments) on a western or non-western musical instrument.
The work will be performed by members of The Chamber Orchestra at St. Matthew's on a Music Guild concert, Friday, June 10, 2011, at St. Matthew's Church in Pacific Palisades.
Amount of the commission is $5,000 (including composing fee and professionally prepared score and parts).
Composers are asked to submit two or three representative works and a CD recording or MIDI sample of works submitted. Works must be received by September 15, 2010 in order to be considered and will not be returned unless a self-addressed, stamped envelope is included.
Commission will be awarded by October 15, 2010. Completed score and parts must be received by April 15, 2011.
