Friends & Enemies of New Music announces a competition for a work for not more than four instruments of not more than 10 minutes duration. Works including electroacoustic instruments are eligible. There are no restrictions on style. The winning work(s) will be performed by Friends & Enemies of New Music in New York City in the fall of 2010.
¶ Anonymous submission. Composers should remove all evidence of authorship from their scores.
¶ All submissions must include a sealed envelope marked only with the title of the submitted work, containing the composer's name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, and a short biography. Electroacoustic works must also include a complete list of equipment required for performance.
¶ Please send a CD recording of each work entered (if available). Synthesizer demos are acceptable.
¶ Composers may submit more than one work. However, a non-refundable $20 entry fee for each work entered must accompany all submissions.
Do not send originals! Although every effort will be made to return works submitted with a suitable self-addressed stamped envelope (see below), Friends & Enemies can not be responsible for lost or damaged materials.
Entries will not be returned unless accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) of sufficient size for the submitted materials. Works submitted without a suitable SASE will be discarded at the conclusion of the competition. If no submissions are considered acceptable, none will be selected for performance.
Scores must be received by April 16, 2010.
