Please note this important change: Due to reduced funding from the Jerome Foundation, subito grant rounds for 2009/2010 have been reduced from four rounds to two. This affects the Minnesota Chapter subito program only.

subito grants are designed to give an immediate financial boost to composers, performers, and other makers of new music at a time when this help would have a significant career-enhancing effect. The application process is uncomplicated, and the review process is streamlined to provide a quick turnaround. The subito Program is highly inclusive, and therefore encourages composers, performers, and sound artists working in diverse genres/mediums to apply. The program also encourages artists to take risks in their creative endeavors. subito is there to fill the gap in funding for artists who are particularly interested in creating work without the burden of artistic compromise. Applicants should be advised that the selection panel changes for each round of submissions.

subito aims to give timely aid to those musicians who are strongly dedicated to their art, who show artistic merit, and who propose an excellent project. We wish to award grants to varied artists from the many genres of music represented in Minnesota, and from the state's diverse cultures.
