Applications are now being accepted for the 5th annual Utah Arts Festival Commission for Chamber Ensemble, to premiere at the 2011 Utah Arts Festival, performed by the Utah Arts Festival Chamber Ensemble, under the Artistic Direction of Andrew Rindfleisch. The commissioned work will be an 8-12 minute work for a six piece chamber ensemble. The award is $3000. When awarded, the instrumentation for the commissioned piece will be for a six (6) piece chamber ensemble as follows: 1 Flute (doubling Piccolo), 1 Clarinet (doubling Bass Clarinet), 1 Percussionist, 1 Piano, 1 Violin, 1 Cello.
Eligibility: This commissioning application is open to all legal residents currently living in the United States, regardless of age and career level.
Submission Materials: Enclose the following materials in a sealed envelope bearing the chosen pseudonym: (1) One representative full score for mixed chamber ensemble. (Mark the score with the pseudonym, not the composer’s real name.) (2) A compact disc recording of the submitted score. MIDI realized recordings will not be accepted. (Mark the CD with the pseudonym, not the composer’s real name.) (3) Large sealed envelope bearing chosen pseudonym containing both the submitted score and CD. (4) One page biography of composer.
