UTT Ibis Ensemble Call for Compositions

CRITERIA
The work may be a new piece or may have been written at any time in the composer’s career and should include a minimum of three instruments to be chosen from the following: Violin OR Viola, Double Bass, Flute, Trombone, Percussion, Tenor Steel Pan, Piano and Soprano Voice. Although the inclusion of the Steel Pan, the national instrument of Trinidad and Tobago, is not mandatory, UTT Ibis Ensemble is keen to promote works within their programming. Submissions may include live electronics, pre-recorded elements or any combination thereof.

SUBMISSION

Please submit the following documents either by email or using a file sharing service such as WeTransfer, Dropbox or Google Drive to Caitlyn Kamminga at: caitlyn.kamminga@utt.edu.tt

* A document providing the composer’s name, nationality, postal address, e-mail address and telephone number as well as an English language biography of the composer (300 words or fewer) and a brief description of the composition(Word format only)
* An engraved copy of the work(s) to be considered (PDF format only)
* An audio recording of the work(s) if available (any format except MIDI)

The deadline for submissions is November 1, 2018

A maximum of two (2) works will be chosen for performance by UTT Ibis Ensemble in March 2018 at the National Academy for the Performing Arts in Port of Spain, Trinidad. A studio recording of the work will be made available to the composer.

Selected composers not resident in Trinidad and Tobago who wish to attend the performance will need to cover their own travel expenses. UTT will provide accommodation for three (3) nights in the Port of Spain area.

Selected composers resident in Trinidad and Tobago who wish to attend the performance may choose to be accommodated by UTT for three (3) nights in the Port of Spain area.

Further works may be selected for performance by UTT Ibis Ensemble at a later date.
The panel will include members of UTT Ibis Ensemble and Kwamé Ryan, Director of UTT’s Academy for the Performing Arts.
