!BAMM! Student Composers Competition 2017
The !BAMM! Student Composers Competition at Composers, Inc. is dedicated to encouraging the music of Bay Area student composers and presenting it in a prominent concert forum.
One chosen composition by a student composer will be featured on the annual !BAMM! concert this season. Composers, Inc. has sole discretion over concert programming and scheduling. Composers whose compositions are programmed will be encouraged to speak briefly about their work. The judging committee reserves the option of withholding the award.
Applications are welcome from any composer who is currently enrolled in a high school, conservatory, college or university (undergraduate or graduate) in these California counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, Yolo. The applicant’s enrollment status will be confirmed at the time of submission, not the date of the concert.
Applicants may submit only one composition. All submissions must be original compositions by a single composer for one to three performers. Compositions must be 5 to 8 minutes in length. Compositions may be primarily acoustic, electronic, or a combination, but must utilize at least one live performer. Regardless of format, every composition must be fully notated and be accompanied by a performance recording or electronic realization such as MIDI.
Interested student composers must submit the following ONLINE:
• A PDF score.
• A recording of the composition uploaded online (eg. Soundcloud, Bandcamp, etc.).
Entries must be submitted by January 15, 2017 before 11:59pm PST. The selected composition will be announced March 2017 and performed at the !BAMM! 2017 Spring concert. Information, instructions, and application form can be accessed here.
There is no application fee.
