Our third annual Composition Contest is open to composers age 18+ that do not have an exclusive publishing contract. We are accepting works for 1-5 players with some restrictions on instrumentation. Winning composers become a part of the Abundant Silence roster with access to other programming that connects them with performers, students, communities and other opportunities. There are cash prizes for winning works and the selected works are performed at our annual new works concert, published in sheet music form, and recorded. Please read the full info and eligibility before applying at: www.abundantsilence.org/composition-contest

ABOUT THE CONTEST AND SELECTION
This is the third round of our Composition Contest. Becoming a winner of our Composition Contest is now the primary way to become a member of the Abundant Silence composer roster. Abundant Silence is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the work of living composers and connecting composers and their work to students and local communities. Click here for more information about our mission.

The initial selection round will involve the board of directors of Abundant Silence choosing 10-25 Finalists based on the number of submissions. The current composers in the Abundant Silence roster will then vote on the final winning compositions. Winners will be announced in August with the last four months of the year dedicated to editing the work, publishing the work, and rehearsing the work (ensembles will be chosen based on location and commitment to performing new music).

Abundant Silence reserves the right to discontinue this contest for any reason, in which case, all entry fees will be refunded to the composers.

The 2017 Composition Contest is Now Underway!!!
We will be accepting entries from March 1st through May 31st 2017.

Please read the Eligibility, Awards, Guidelines, and About and Selection Process below for complete information. No entry fee refunds will be granted to compositions/composers that do not fit our criteria.
