Occurring at least once a month, each Session will take place over 5 to 10 days, offering a small group of participants the chance to live and work together, delving deeply into a particular topic, theme or question, Facilitated by a Session Coordinator(s) and Arts Letters & Numbers Resident Staff & Fellows, the intent of the program is to create an immersive space of inquiry and action, a place for deep questioning, thinking and making.

In Common is a new collaborative artist residency that gives communities the opportunity to explore and celebrate their unique diversity through the sharing of stories and the creation of new music. The composer’s residency in the community centers on creating music together and organizing events where people of all ages can gather to discover what they have in common. Each community hosts a yearlong project that is unique to their needs, and which brings diverse people together, including civic leaders, a faith congregation, service organizations, and artists.

Britten Sinfonia Young Composer Hub

The Composer Hub is a new scheme run by Britten Sinfonia which aims to support talented young composers aged 11-18 from the East of England.

We strive to develop their creative, technical and stylistic skills through a programme of tailored compositional briefs, mentoring from renowned professionals, rehearsals, recordings and public performance opportunities. Each year the Hub is led by a different professional composer, who mentors the students and attends one day of each of the orchestral projects.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Classical Roots African-American Composer Residency is offered by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in conjunction with its Classical Roots Celebration. The residency is granted to a living African-American composer. The selected work(s) will be performed at the Classical Roots Chamber Recital, which will take place on February 26, 2018 in Detroit, Michigan. The winning composer will receive an honorarium of $500 plus round-trip air travel to Detroit, accommodations for the duration of their stay, ground transportation and a stipend for incidentals.
