CALL FOR SCORES

The Siena College Creative Arts Department announces a call for score submissions for the inaugural annual Siena College Choral Composition Competition. The winning work will be premiered by the Clare Ensemble Singers, a professional chamber choir in residence, on Saturday, May 11, 2019. A prize stipend of $450 will be available to the winning work.

• First Prize: $500
Professional performance at the May 18 and May 19, 2019 concerts of the Cleveland Chamber Choir, presented by the Cleveland Composers Guild.
Recording of the live performance
• Second Prize $300
• Third Prize $150

If no entries, or too few entries, are deemed worthy, the Cleveland Composers Guild reserves the right to award some or none of the prizes.

Guidelines
Who: Full time undergraduates who are studying in any college, university, or conservatory in northeast Ohio may apply.

Amaranth Quartet Call for Scores – composers ages 18-24

Deadline: December 15, 2018

Amaranth Quartet, based in the San Francisco Bay Area, seeks compositions for performance in April 2019. All submitted works must be 4-10 minutes in length. Composers must be ages 18-24. All submitted works must use the full string quartet; no subsets will be accepted. Works using electronics will not be considered for this call.

Four finalists will be announced by Amaranth Quartet and D. Riley Nicholson by January 15, 2018.

A piece for Chamber Choir, to be performed during our 40th Anniversary season (2019/20) with which we can celebrate the joy of singing and making music together.

Text to be chosen by the composer.

Compositions are invited from composers of any age or nationality.

Entries will be adjudicated anonymously by the Chorale’s Musical Director, Jill Henderson-Wild, her Deputy, Dave Robinson and prize-winning composer Chris O’Hara, who sings bass in the choir.

First prize £1,000; if merited, further prizes may be awarded.

On occasion of its 50th Anniversary, the Sant Yago University Choir, from Valencia (Spain), is pleased to announce a Choral Music Composition Contest. The aim of this competition is to promote the creation of new repertoire by young, emerging composers from all over the world. In addition to a monetary prize (300€), the winning piece will premiere, performed by the Sant Yago University Choir, at the closing concert of a contemporary music Choral Workshop to be held in Valencia on April 7th, 2019.

This competition seeks to identify talented composers who identify as female. There is no application fee.

Awards:
Winner - One composer will have their work premiered by the Key City Winds on January 27, 2019, and receive an audio and a video recording of the work. Provided reasonable travel arrangements can be made, we will assist with travel costs to facilitate a residency at Abilene Christian University (to include the premiere).

The Oklahoma Youth Winds (OYW) is comprised of many of the most talented and dedicated wind, brass, and percussion students in the state of Oklahoma. The group has received numerous distinctions for their superior level of performance, including their most recent accolade as the choice Community Ensemble at the 2017 Oklahoma Music Educators Association Convention. The group’s primary conductor is Dr. Matthew Mailman, and he is assisted by Ms. Sarah Neely.
