The instrument has a large variety of different extended techniques, and it is at its best when they are utilised. A PDF and video demonstrating some of these is available for composers, please write to request it.

Frame Dance is committed to using new, original music in all its productions. Frame Dance has held an annual competition since 2011 to select pieces of music for its upcoming season. Kansas City Performing Media Festival

Michael Miller and Eric Souther, in conjunction with Charlotte Street, are seeking proposals for new audio-visual collaborative works to be performed by Mnemosyne Quartet during the Kansas City Performing Media Festival (KC PMF).

The winning five composers and five video artists will be granted a commission of $100 to collaborate, and create a five to eight minute audio-visual work. Proposals are due by 11:59 PM on April 7th, and all winners will be announced by April 13th.

Friction of Distance - Open Call for Sounds

The Baker-Barganier Duo announces an open call for sounds for a collaborative multimedia performance, exploring the idea of friction of distance. Sound submissions should be representative of specific places throughout the world; anything from complete works to unprocessed field recordings will be considered. Please note that as a part of this new multimedia work, submitted sounds will be processed by The Baker-Barganier Duo.

As a part of this collaborative multimedia performance composers/sound artists will receive:
- Featured credit on The Baker-Barganier Duo website (detailed biography, photo, link to original sound, and link to professional website)
- Video recording of premiere performance
- Audio recording of premiere performance

This call is open to composers and sound artists of any age and nationality. Submitted sounds should be between 5-20 minutes long. For additional questions about the call, please email baker.barganier@gmail.com.
