Call for Electronic Music: 1-4 channels of subwoofers

The Canadian Music Centre is collaborating with artist and organizer Matt Horrigan to present a concert of works for subwoofers. Composers of any age and nationality are invited to submit electronic music that has been created for subwoofers—1-4 channels of audio. Half of the program will consist of a new composition, Heavy Traffic, written for electric guitar and subwoofers which is about outside noise coming through the walls into private space. The other half of the program will be selected through this open call.

Kansas City Performing Media Festival

Michael Miller and Eric Souther, in conjunction with Charlotte Street Foundation of Kansas City, are seeking proposals for new audio-visual collaborative works to be performed by Mnemosyne Quartet during the Kansas City Performing Media Festival (KC PMF). The winning five composers and five video artists will be granted a commission of $100 each to collaborate, and create a five to eight minute audio-visual work. Proposals are due by April 27th by 11:59 PM, and all winners will be announced by May 15th.

The Fusion Film Scoring Workshops are designed to give to the composer all the essential tools and knowledge needed to create an original Film Score. Up to 12 applicants will be selected to take part in an intensive 7-day workshop where they will be assigned to compose the original music for a Short Film (approx.5 minute duration). Each participant will receive individual mentoring by an internationally acclaimed faculty and seminars by industry professionals that will cover both the aesthetic and creative aspects of writing for film as well as technical aspects and score preparation.

From April through October 2018, Sverdlovsk Philharmonic and Russian Musical Union with support of the Sverdlovsk Region Ministry of Culture, is conducting the Fourth Open Composition Competition of
Creating Symphony Music for Children Peter and the Wolf-2018 (hereinafter referred to as the Competition).
The Competition has been launched in 2006, and was the first musical competition in Russia initiated by a symphony group – Ural Philharmonic Orchestra.
